Strong export growth
The Cambodia Rice Federation reported that milled rice exports rose 68% year on year in January to July. Revenue increased 34.3% over the same period, reaching US$415.12 million. Regional outlets and Xinhua carried the same core data, reinforcing the scale of the jump.
The export mix remained broad. The European Union bought 207,157 tonnes, worth more than US$156.45 million. China and its autonomous regions imported 174,930 tonnes, valued at US$103.31 million. Five ASEAN member states purchased 266,300 tonnes, worth US$102.84 million.
Cambodia also shipped 59,084 tonnes to 25 other markets. Those sales brought in US$52.52 million and reached buyers in Africa and the Middle East.
Market mix favours fragrant rice
Fragrant rice remained the main export line. It accounted for 59.23% of total milled rice shipments in the period. White rice represented 23.66%, while broken rice made up 13.70%.
Organic rice accounted for 1.28% of exports. Parboiled rice contributed 1.93%, and other varieties made up the remaining 0.2%.
The figures show a diversified product base. They also show that Cambodia is still selling into premium and regional markets at scale. That supports pricing power and helps reduce reliance on any single destination.
Cambodia also exported more than 3 million tonnes of paddy rice in the same period. That generated an estimated US$665.70 million in revenue. Together, paddy and milled rice exports underline the sector’s weight in the country’s farm trade balance.
For traders, the numbers point to steady cargo flows across Europe, China and ASEAN. For logistics investors, they signal continued demand for handling, storage and shipping capacity. The next marker to watch is whether Cambodia can sustain this pace through the final quarter and move closer to its historic full-year export target.
